Segment is a customer data infrastructure that allows you to collect and route customer data to hundreds of different marketing, analytics, sales, and data warehousing tools.
Though Segment had great year-over-year organic growth, it wasn't what they thought it should be and wanted us to look for opportunities for improvement.
We were able to perform a deep dive through Segment's on-site content, blog content, and keyword targeting to ensure they were focusing on the parts of their site that drove the most traffic for them. We built a plan that their team could operate from for keyword targeting, content production, and technical best practices moving forward. Then we built links to the most important pages on their site from a traffic perspective.
In the initial weeks of the project we put together a deep plan for technical optimization updates, keyword targeting updates, content optimization, and site architecture changes that would allow better link equity flow to the most important pages on Segment’s site from a traffic perspective. We then built links to those important pages. The results came in quickly due to fast implementation of our recommendations and an aggressive link building budget.
The planning phase of this project was aimed directly at giving the Segment development team, content team, and social team both immediate recommendations that they could get implemented to see immediate improvement but also a long-term plan that they could utilize for future updates and development for years to come - a blueprint to their success in search.
With the Segment team taking on all of the content production and optimization - utilizing our recommendations - we were able to focus all of our time and budget into link building after the initial plan was created for their team to operate against. We positioned all of our link building to the target integration pages that we saw were most influential in their overall search traffic growth.
